Announcements/Cap and Gown Information

  It is still not too late to purchase your cap and gown. To place your order for graduation supplies, you can see Mrs. Smith in G15.

  The price for your cap and gown is $65.00 until March 31^st. The month of April, it will go up to $75; the final date to purchase is May 10^th for $80. Take advantage of the lower prices while you can!

  If you are using a cap and gown from a previous year, you must still purchase the following for your graduation year: tassle ($8.00), m edallion ($12.00), and a graduation fee ($10.00). 

On April 8^th, cap and gowns and announcements will be delivered to all lunches.

Seniors, do not procrastinate; graduation is May 18^th!

Get With the Program

  Attention Seniors: College is approaching very quickly. Some of the deadlines for colleges are next month and most of the deadlines are in May, so it's crucial to take the SAT and the ACT if you haven't already.

  The Next upcoming SAT is on March 9^th and the deadline to apply for that date was on February 25. However, you can still complete a waitlist request. The next upcoming ACT is on April 13^th and the deadline to apply is on March 8^th. To sign up for the Act, go to SAT.collegeboard.org and to sign up for the ACT, go to actstudent.org. 

  In order to be accepted to any university, you are required to take one of these tests to determine your acceptance, so they are both essential if you plan on going to college.

Cheer Tryouts

  Cheerleading tryouts for the 2013-2014 school year took place on February 26^th through the 28^th. Mrs. Kendall, the head coach of the cheerleading team, reports that there were 35 people who tried out. Sixteen girls are required for each the varsity and the junior varsity squad.

  The results on who made the squad will be posted by the end of next week. The 32 girls selected will participate in three workout sessions and two practices a week during summer break. They will be training for six competitions that will begin in September. Mrs. Kendall is looking forward to the new season and is excited to see the potential in the new members of the teams.

Coachella Music Festival 2013

If you enjoy alternative rock and indie music, Coachella is a music festival you will never forget. Every year in April since 2001, Coachella has compiled a lineup of hundreds of bands and solo artists to perform over a course of two weekends in Indio, California. Coachella is notorious for their headliners.

This year, Coachella will be on the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21. The big bands playing include: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pusha T, 2Chainz, Wu Tang Clan, Passion Pit, Phoenix, The Lumineers, Janelle Monae, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Blur, Tegan and Sara, La Roux, Band of Horses, Bassnectar, Excision, Pretty Lights, Of Mice and Men, Metric, Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt, The XX, Vampire Weekend, Cloud Nothings, and The Descendants.

  With graduation quickly approaching, several seniors of Harris County High School have already decided where they will be attending college in the near future. The following is a list of students who have committed to their college choices:

Ryan Curlee: Augusta State, major in nursing and becoming an Anesthesiologist.

Susannah Kindrick: University of Georgia, major in Pre-Dentistry. 

Tyler Moore: Southern Polytechnic, major in Computer Science. 

Marvin James: Devry University, major in Graphic Design. 

Brett Askins: Mercer University, major in Pre-Med. 

Emily Crawford: College of Coastal Georgia, major in Culinary Arts and cross over into Business.

Jay Ellison: Georgia Southern University, major in Business Management.
