BE INVOLVED! Math is not a spectator sport; you MUST get involved. Work examples, take notes, ask questions, use time wisely, & find a study buddy. All of these will be helpful when you are doing your homework each night. Remember…sitting in class & watching the teacher work problems is not enough. Be prepared to be an active participant in class. You will only "learn" math by "doing" math. You can do it!

COME TO CLASS PREPARED! This means having sharpened pencils, your math notebook, your textbook, your attempted homework, & most importantly, an open mind & good attitude.

COPY THE PROBLEMS! In doing math, you should always copy the problem, continue in an orderly fashion, & show all work. I cannot see where your mistakes are unless I can see all your work to see how you got your answer.

PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL! Be careful of careless errors. Always label your answers with proper units (Centimeters, minutes, $, etc.)

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, & PRACTICE SOME MORE! You will have homework almost every night. Focus on the positive thing. Even if you attempt every problem, you are still increasing your mathematical knowledge.

CORRECT YOUR MISTAKES! It is crucial that you correct any mistakes you have on your tests/ quizzes/ homework. Checking homework is to benefit you. Leaving incorrect answers & reworking the problem to the side helps you spot your mistakes. This is also a great advantage when studying for quizzes/tests.

ASK QUESTIONS, LOTS OF QUESTIONS! Please do not be afraid to ask questions if you do not understand. I am here to help you learn math. In order to do that better, I need to know if you do not understand anything we go over in class. We will all work together to create a positive family environment where we all feel comfortable asking questions.

STUDY!!! When studying for a math quiz or test, try these helpful hints: Review class notes, Rework homework problems, make review sheets, start early- not the night before, cone in for extra help with troubles you encounter.
