Classroom Procedures and guidelines


Entering Classroom : When you enter the classroom, enter the room quietly, prepare for learning, & immediately begin the warm-up.


Class Attention : Signals make life easy! When student's see that the teacher's hand is raised they immediately freeze & stop talking. No exceptions! This is the all quiet signal.


Notebooks : To increase achievement, student notebooks should be kept organized according to the guidelines stated in class: 4 sections, 3 dividers. Warm-ups, Class work, Homework, & Graded work . Notebook checks will be performed periodically to assist students' organization. 


Warm-ups : These are to be completed immediately after students enter class & have gathered needed materials. Their purpose it to get the students into a math mode of learning. All warm-ups are to be dated for organization purposes. They will be checked periodically. Students are to record the questions & answers each day. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to get the missed warm-ups from either a classmate, or the teacher.

 

Pencils : Students are expected to always write in pencil. Notes, class work, homework, tests, etc must be written in pencil unless otherwise instructed. Failure to do so will result in a loss of 10 pts. on each assignment.


Assignments : All assignments should be headed with name, date, class Pd, & PG # / assignment name. All work must be shown on all problems whether notes, class work, homework, or tests. Always copy the problem. Failure to do the above will result in a loss of 20 pts. (Ex. attached)

Homework Policy : Homework will be assigned to reinforce math skills on a regular basis. It is assigned two to four nights a week. Homework may be graded for accuracy or completion.


Tutoring : If a student is having difficulties with an assignment he/she should get in touch with a math buddy over the phone &/or attend a tutoring session offered every Wednesday & Friday morning from 7:30-8:00 a.m. If another time is needed it must be scheduled and approved by the teacher in advance, not the day of.

 

Late Work Policy : Emergencies and forgetfulness sometimes happens. Late work will be accepted for up to two school days after the due date & will earn a maximum grade of a 70% the first day & 50% the second day. IF not turned in after two days, the grade will be zero. For projects & special assignments, late work guidelines may be adjusted at teacher's discretion.


Make-up Work : The student is responsible for making up missed work due to an absence. Make-up work can include: class notes, warm-ups, class assignments, quizzes/tests, & homework. For each day missed, the student will have (2) days to make up the assignment. All missed tests & quizzes should be scheduled for make-up with the teacher. If the student is absent the day an assignment is due, the assignment will be due the day that the student returns to school.


Leaving Classroom : Students are dismissed by the Teacher , not the bell. To be released the students' area must be clear & clean, desk straight, & ALL students must be seated.


Turning in/ Picking up work : Students will hold all work & assignments until instructed by the teacher. Student work will be returned in a timely & efficient manner. Students are notified of their grades every other Friday.


Journal Writing : Students will be asked to write in their journals on a regular basis. These stay in the classroom at all times for student convenience. Some entries will be graded for accuracy & some for completion.
