Literary is a Georgia High School Competition for singers, actors, speakers, and writers. Harris County has participated in Literary for over ten years and will be hosting the upcoming competition this Saturday, March 2nd. Mrs. Burdette coaches essays and speaking, Mrs. Longshore coaches drama, and Mrs. Pope coaches the singers. This year the contestants will be challenging a much smaller and different region, so competition will be tense. As of last year, Harris County has won region and runner up for theatre. The team is very excited and anxious to win the competition because of the new region.

Presenting Beauty and the Beast

By: Christian Jarmon

The Harris County Theatre department is planning a powerhouse performance of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast set for this spring. The cast has just recently begun to meet, and it is expected to be a lights out show overall.

Returning seniors have been waiting for this moment throughout their high school careers, and this performance will be a great highlight to younger and newer members of the drama department.

Along with many returning thespians, Mrs. Valeria Longshore-Sargent decided to throw in some fresh, young talent into the mix. Some talented young freshmen and sophomores were added into some of the crucial roles because of their exceptional talent and understanding of theatrics. Casting less experienced actors may be risky, but Mrs. Longshore is confident in her cast’s ability to perform.

The actual production dates have not been released, but the audience can expect a fast paced, loud, joyful evening of singing and dancing when the show is premiered. Support Harris County High School’s Thespian Society by coming to see the show. They promise that you won’t regret it.
